Students must have good skills in all the basic steps. Kahiko hula goes way back to the ancient dances of the Hawaiian people; it is done to chanting accompanied by the ipu-heke (gourd) or pahu drum.
Fee: $5.00 per class hour, payable on the first class day of each month. Fee entitles the student to stay for Open Practice.
2:00 – 4:00 – Open Practice
Exactly what the name says – for two hours, a guided practice on any and all of the hula in the Hula Mai classes.

erfc Wednesdays – at Vintage House, 264 First Street East 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Beginning Hula

This is the first evening class to be offered by Hula Mai and is in response to the many requests we have received from women who work during the day. Fee: $10 per class hour for this “after-hours class,” payable on the first class day of each month.

Fridays – Sonoma Community Center, 276 East Napa Street, in the Dance Studio upstairs.

10:30 - 11:30 – Auana and Hawaiian Students must have good skills in all the basic steps. This class focuses on hula with Hawaiian lyrics.
11:45 – 12:45 – Auana - Hapa Haole Same skill level required as for the 10:30 class, but this class focuses on hula with English lyrics. 1:00 – 2:00 – Beginning Hula – Exactly what it says, an introduction to the hula with a focus on all the basic hula steps, but also including some easy routines in both Kahiko and Auana.
Fee: $5.00 per class hour, payable on the first class day of each month.
