Preparation for 2016's Ho'ike began the day after 2015's show. Sharpening skills; learning new dances and mele; practicing with the band; creating and making new costumes; performing our road shows around the valley; are just a few of the ways Hula Mai has grown and matured in the last few years.

At no time is the pre-show anticipation and apprehension greater than just before going on stage. It is here and at this time the depth and meaning of the Hula Sister-brotherhood is strongest; it is here the final bonding takes place that makes us the Hula Mai performers we are.
